Frequently asked questions
Q: How much Tylenol can I give my baby?
Dose by weight, not age — your paediatrician or our pharmacy team can give you the exact dose. Never exceed 5 doses in 24 hours and never give Tylenol with other acetaminophen-containing products at the same time.
Q: When should I treat my baby's fever?
Many doctors say to treat fever only if your baby is uncomfortable, not just because the number is high. For babies under 3 months with any fever (rectal temp ≥38.0°C), call your doctor before giving Tylenol.
Q: Can I alternate Tylenol with Advil for my infant?
For infants under 6 months, Advil (ibuprofen) isn't recommended — stick with Tylenol. After 6 months, alternating can help, but always check the dosing carefully and ideally with our team.
Q: Why dye-free?
Some babies are sensitive to artificial colours; the dye-free version eliminates that risk. The active ingredient and dosing are identical to the regular version.
From The Boardwalk Pharmacy team
For new parents in Kitchener-Waterloo — print or save the weight-based dosing chart from the package; it's so much easier to dose correctly at 3am when you're tired. We can also email you our "first-time fever" checklist if you ask.
