Frequently asked

Are diabetes supplies covered by ODB?

Yes — for eligible Ontarians, ODB covers most diabetes medications including insulin, oral diabetes drugs, blood glucose test strips (with limits), and many continuous glucose monitor supplies. We direct-bill ODB at the counter, so you never pay upfront if you're covered. Coverage details for newer drugs like GLP-1 agonists can be plan-specific — call us to verify yours.

Do you carry Freestyle Libre and Dexcom CGMs?

Yes — both the Freestyle Libre 2 / Libre 3 and Dexcom G7 systems including sensors and reader devices. We'll help you understand which is right for you, work with your prescriber on the application form, and walk you through your first sensor application.

What's the difference between Ozempic, Mounjaro, and Trulicity?

All three are GLP-1 receptor agonists used to improve blood sugar control in type-2 diabetes (and some are also used for weight management). They differ in dosing schedule, side-effect profile, and insurance coverage. Our pharmacists can sit with you and discuss which is most appropriate based on your prescription, prior experience, and tolerability.

Can I get my insulin delivered?

Yes. Free local delivery throughout Waterloo and Kitchener — and we use cold-pack-protected coolers to keep insulin and other refrigerated medications at the right temperature in transit. Same-day delivery available when ordered before 2 PM Monday to Friday.

Do you offer diabetes counseling for newly-diagnosed patients?

Absolutely. A new diagnosis can feel overwhelming — our pharmacists can walk you through your medication, how to use a glucometer, what to do if blood sugar goes too high or too low, and what to expect over the first few months. Just ask at the counter or call ahead to book a longer chat.
