MedsCheck Medication Reviews in Waterloo

Free MedsCheck Medication Reviews in Waterloo

If you take three or more prescription medications, you may qualify for a free MedsCheck — a private, one-on-one review with one of our licensed pharmacists at The Boardwalk Pharmacy in Waterloo.

What Is a MedsCheck?

MedsCheck is a government-funded Ontario program that gives patients the chance to sit down with a pharmacist and review all their medications together. It's completely free for eligible patients and covered under the Ontario Drug Benefit (ODB) program or most private insurance plans.

During your MedsCheck, your pharmacist will:

  • Review all your prescription and over-the-counter medications
  • Check for potential drug interactions or duplications
  • Ensure you understand how and when to take each medication
  • Answer any questions about side effects, storage, or alternatives
  • Provide you with a personal medication record to share with your doctor

Who Qualifies for MedsCheck?

You may be eligible if you:

  • Take 3 or more prescription medications for ongoing conditions
  • Have recently been discharged from hospital (MedsCheck in the Community)
  • Have been diagnosed with diabetes (MedsCheck for Diabetes)
  • Are a resident of a long-term care home (MedsCheck at Home)

MedsCheck for Diabetes

If you have been diagnosed with diabetes, you qualify for a dedicated MedsCheck for Diabetes — a more comprehensive review specifically focused on diabetes management, blood sugar monitoring, and your complete medication regimen. This program is also fully covered at no cost to you.

How to Book Your MedsCheck in Waterloo

MedsChecks are available by appointment. Call us at (519) 578-3000 and we'll set aside private consultation time with one of our pharmacists at your convenience.

Bring all your medications — prescription and over-the-counter — including vitamins and supplements. The more complete the picture, the more valuable the review.
